Vision and Thought Leadership

Here you'll find the bulk of my thought leadership written since 1998. My career has spanned several phases of enterprise transformation, from human capital and restructuring during the late 1980s and early 1990s to the rise of distributed computing, Java, the Internet and e-business during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Now I'm focused on the next phase of discontinuous change, enterprise 2.0, global P2P collaboration and sourcing.

  • Knowledge Economy working paper—The shift from the Industrial Economy to the Knowledge Economy is a megatrend that underlies most transformation forces operating in 2008.
  • Point of View—Commercial and governmental organizations have an opportunity to be more responsive to customers and constituents if they transform their business processes through partnering and sourcing. Here's how.
  • IDC Outsourcing Forum—Reportage and analysis of a turning point in global sourcing, and what it means to your ability to execute.
  • The Global Human Capital Journal, focuses on how enterprise 2.0, consumer empowerment, global sourcing and collaboration are creating the networked enterprise and transforming society
  • Transourcing, the website for my strategic, yet incremental approach to agility

Although not as leading edge anymore, the technology underpinnings of and insight within these papers are still very relevant to today's business issues. Some points made during Web 1.0 (the Internet boom) are of, well, museum quality, so I include them for amusement and perspective.
